Vinton Worldtrekkers

Collaborative Logo Refinement · Graphic Design & Color Design

Client: Vinton Worldtrekkers

My Contribution: Logo refinement & color design

Project Type: Collaborative, client-directed graphic design

Project Overview

Vinton Worldtrekkers is a community-based travel initiative from Vinton, Virginia, that brings students and adults together to explore international cultures, languages, and historic landmarks. Guided by the belief that the world is our largest classroom, the organization uses travel as an opportunity for experiential learning, cultural exchange, and the development of a broader global perspective.

I collaborated with Vinton Worldtrekkers on refining its existing logo, contributing color to an illustration originally created in black and white by another designer. Working from the supplied design, I developed the colored version in response to the client’s preferences, helping transform the original illustration into a vibrant visual identity that reflects the group’s spirit of exploration and cultural discovery.

Design Approach

The redesign centers on a circular composition featuring a globe surrounded by recognizable landmarks from around the world. Through color, the design brings together diverse landscapes, architectural traditions, and travel imagery, emphasizing the connections between geography, culture, and shared experience.

My role focused primarily on coloring the existing illustration according to the client’s vision while preserving the original composition and its recognizable elements. The resulting design balances the established artwork with a more colorful, illustrative presentation suited to the organization’s identity.

Reflection

This project allowed me to apply my design skills in a collaborative, client-directed setting. Rather than beginning with a blank canvas, I worked within an established concept, considering how color could strengthen its visual impact while remaining faithful to the client’s goals. It was an opportunity to explore how thoughtful design decisions can communicate an organization’s purpose and help tell the story behind its work.
